CONGRATULATIONS on your child’s upcoming Baptism! What a joy it is to experience God’s gift of new life which he allows parents to share. We at St. Anthony Parish rejoice with you as you behold this precious gift of life. We look forward to welcoming your child into our parish family. Together, we can make the celebration of your baby’s baptism a warm welcome into our parish family and an experience of affirmation for you as a Catholic parent. If you are not yet registered in the parish, please do so now before you register for the Baptism.
PREPARATION: All sacraments require preparation. We at St. Anthony are committed to helping you prepare to raise your child in the Catholic faith. Parents and Godparents are expected to attend our Baptismal Class which is offered on the first Tuesday of most months at 7:00 PM in the church. Please register in advance for the class a few months before your desired Baptism date. If a person has attended the class within the past, it might not be necessary to repeat it. If you attended the class in another parish, please include proof of participation.
GODPARENTS: A wonderful part of Baptism preparation is choosing your child’s godparents. Godparents must be firm believers, able and ready to help the child on the road of Christian life. At least one of the godparents must be a practicing Catholic who is 16 years old, Baptized, Confirmed, and receives Holy Communion regularly. In some cases, a baptized and believing non-Catholic Christian may act as a Christian witness along with the Catholic godparent.
Please note: There is no required donation for Baptism. If you would like to give a gift to the Celebrant, you are welcome to, but you are under no obligation to do so.
